The Legend of SB College Changanacherry

It was a bright sunny day ...
On 21st September 2017, me and my mates of Best manager competition of Berchnova 2k17 was instructed to step out of the campus for collecting the unknown history of the Legendary St. Berchmans College , Changanacherry within an hour. For us it was an herculean task to know the history of the most famous college of Changanacherry in an hour or so , but it was the most interesting part of this event.
It was my first experience to walk into the public to gather details of a college. I was asked to collect a minimum of 4 persons experiences but finally ended up collecting interesting facts of 9 people about SB College.
The hour started in a petrol pump near the college , where we met a person named Sibi Joseph, who was such a kindhearted man , who narrated us the history of SB college that nourishes his memories.
Sibi chettan , the man in the petrol pump was seen extremely interested to convey his feelings and emotions of SB College. He was a student of SB College in the late 60s, 1968 batch to be exact.
The first word he uttered when was asked about this college was the royal name of Fr. Francis Kalacherry , who was known as the Roaring Lion of SB College in his days . He was the principal of SB College during the period in which Sibi chettan studied in this college.
Sibi chettan also quoted about the Vice Principal Fr. Mathew Pulikkeparambil, who was a person who byhearted the name of all the 3000 students in the college during that time.
The second person I met was an old-aged person who is owning his own flower mart in changanacherry. He was also a student of 1975 Pre-degree batch. He also quoted about Fr. Mathew Pulikkeparambil .
He said that the President of India ( the name which he didnt remember ) once came in helipad to SB college at that time . He said that Changanacherry SB College is one of the most disciplined Christian management colleges in kerala.
He also said that famous personalities like Sri. Rajeevan Narayanaswamy , Sri. Oomen Chandi etc. were once students of SB college. He said only Kerala congress was active in the college at that time especially Mani group.
Yet another awesome person to talk to , who had lots of aspirations , ideas , finally ended up as a flower mart owner in Changanacherry.
The next person I met was an Auto driver. who continues to work day and night for his family , who does all the hard work without taking his age into consideration.
when he was asked about SB College , the first name he said was that of the Legendary Actor of Malayalam Cinema Sri. Prem Nazir, once a student of SB College . He said that the college is extremely popular among the community and the public in Changanacherry as well as in other parts of Kerala
The next person was also an auto driver. He was accompanied by another person .
Both did convey their memories of SB College to us. They talked about the teachers of SB College were mostly very simple and kind. They also spoke to us about the disciplinary factor of the college which was the highlight factor that differentiated SB College from others.
Finally we ended the conversation at KSRTC Bus stand of Changanacherry. They where also extremely happy to speak about SB College .
SB college for the public is something close to their heart.
They have given a dominant space in their lives to this college.
The Legend of St. Berchmans College cannot be noted or written in just an hour .
It may take days, months, years of research.
The history of SB College is extremely interesting to be gathered and the one hour of gathering those memories will never be forgotten.
